WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:Video Games have been an ever growing and trendy part of our pop culture since the 1970s. Children today (and their parents) have been raised with video games being a prominent form of entertainment. With the evident popularity of video games today, why is its use and desire still a controversial topic in School Age (Afterschool) settings? This workshop will discuss the benefits, effects, and tips for classroom implementation. Learn about video game types, ratings, and suggestions for appropriate selection.
ABOUT THE PRESENTER:
Melissa Oddo, Afterschool Specialist for the YWCA Child Care Resource and Referral has over 10 years experience in the field of education and is a graduate of Bowling Green State University. Melissa has experience in quality child care, adult learning, and international summer camps. She has successfully planned and facilitated an annual Summer Learning Conference for 100+ childcare professionals in Toledo, presented countless professional development courses, and written 5 Ohio Approved trainings. This is her 2nd year presenting for OAN’s Best Foot Forward Conference. Melissa is a wife, mother, and advocate.
