Summary of Process: Several years ago, OAN began discussing the possibility of creating a tiered membership structure in order to strengthen opportunities for member engagement and create some sustainability for the Network.  This process has included a detailed review of the membership structures of other Statewide Afterschool Networks, as well as other Ohio Associations such as NAEYC and NAA.  In 2015 OAN conducted a “World Café” to obtain feedback from members on what they value most about OAN membership.  Several discussions were held with the OAN SLT and Executive Committees, and finally, a breakout session at the May 2017 OAN Quarterly Meeting included a detailed discussion among members regarding membership tiers, benefits and fees.  The OAN Membership Committee met in June 2017 to compile all of this information and to create this proposed membership structure.  The Membership Committee also considered other benefits such as discounts to conferences and professional development opportunities, social media promotion by OAN, and OAN membership badges for organization websites, but did not include these benefits in this proposal, as these are not yet ready for implementation.  If adopted by the SLT, this structure will go into effect in August 2017.

NOTE: OAN Strategic Leadership Team (SLT) approved the structure, by a vote of 13 yeses, 0 nos, 5 abstain on July 13, 2017
