WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:This interactive workshop illustrates a process to establish shared expectations, build authentic relationships and targeted goals; and set a foundation for consistent communication between you and the young adults you serve. Participants will leave the workshop with expanded understanding of how to improve mentoring relationships, and an actionable plan for immediate impact and lasting outcomes.


ABOUT THE PRESENTER:

Patricia Smoot Wicks, MSW, has over 25 years of experience working to improve the lives of youth and their families. Her experience includes extensive youth development programming and evaluation, community development, resource development and management, social science research (educational leadership, environmental impact, youth development, community development), direct service and staff director/trainer. She has a proven ability to integrate and unify diverse constituencies, build bridges and foster consensus to achieve organizational goals and to strategically position organizations to meet the needs of their clients into the future. Patricia received her Bachelor of Science in Education and Social Policy from Northwestern University (Evanston, IL) in 1992 and Masters of Arts in Social Work from the University of Chicago, Social Service Administration in 2000, concentrating her clinical skills to impact policy and administration.Patricia Smoot Wicks Consulting LLC builds sustainable systems for effective youth development. We do this through capacity building and sustainability consultation and customized professional development engagements to support the delivery of consistent, efficient and impactful services. PATHworks!TM products and services help young adults make active decisions in academics and life; and support parents, other adults and agencies who work with them. We offer individual coaching, small and large group experiences and agency-based services. We develop young adults’ Purpose, Attitude, Tenacity and Hope. Topics include transitions, academic and career planning, conflict resolution and communication skills, self-care strategies and relationship building. We also provide staff training and professional development experiences for organizations.
