Stakeholders in Afterschool and Summer Learning are encouraged to connect with their elected officials to make a personal ask for their attendance at the Ohio Municipal Summit on Afterschool and Summer Learning. Here are some tips to do that:

  • THINK AHEAD – Determine who the decision makers are in your community and then decide how to best connect with them. Before your visit plan out how you will be asking them to engage in this event.
  • AFTER A CONVERSATION, GET AN EMAIL – Let them know you will be forwarding them more information. Find out if it should got to them or an aide or secretary. Then make sure to follow up!
  • INVITE THEM TO MAKE A SITE VISIT – Ask your mayor, elected official or other community decision maker to come to your program for a visit so they can see first-hand the impact Afterschool makes in the lives of kids and families. Parents and students can also have a role in the visit, so let them lend their voices, too!
