Like many families, Prairie du Sac residents Jason Paukner and his wife, Audrey, are a two-income household.
While Jason works in town, Audrey commutes. With three school-age children, arranging everyone’s schedules can prove challenging. Were it not for the local after-school program their children attend, creating a reasonable family schedule would be almost impossible.
“For working parents it’s really a lifesaver,” Jason Paukner said of the Afterschool Club their children attend at Bridges Elementary. “School lets out around 3 p.m. and we still have about two hours left in our workday.”
Alison Horne, who coordinates the Sauk Prairie School District’s Afterschool Club, said the community has a large population of parents who commute to work. “We try to make it as easy as possible for parents to have a safe place for their kids to go,” she said
