Following the initial statewide meeting of afterschool stakeholders in the spring of 2004, tactics were developed for the four major areas of concern. The tactics developed for Products and Services are as follows:
- Utilize the influence and expertise of ATAC (technical assistance providers) to move our best practices strategies forward.
- Distribute quarterly e-mail newsletters to providers and other stakeholders to share best practices.
- Create and disseminate benchmarks and standards for programs reflecting research-based and national best practices relating to programmatic and operational procedures, as well as environmental standards.
- Develop incentives to encourage quality improvement and accreditation among afterschool programs.
- Create and implement a strategy to bring together community partners, key decision makers, potential funders and schools in areas identified as underserved to increase the quantity of programs
The goal to accomplish these is:
- Develop and promote resources that reflect high quality services for children and youth during non-school hours.
Work is in process for this goal. The Products & Services group welcomes any volunteer who has a passion in this area. If you are interested in furthering these goals and tactics please contact the OAN Coordinator at info@ohioafterschoolnetwork.org . |
