Policy and Funding Committee (PFC)
The purpose of this committee is to identify opportunities and implement strategies that impact policy and funding which support high-quality, accessible, affordable and fiscally-stable afterschool programs, as well as secure funding for the network, identify and develop membership services, member recruitment and retention, and development of strategic alliances. The Committee, chaired by Allison Wallace, Greater Cleveland Neighborhood Center Association, and Derrick Fulton, Communities in Schools, is supported by OAN’s policy consultant Carrie Baker. Standards and Quality Committee
This committee has been actively involved with efforts to improve the quality of afterschool and summer programs in Ohio, focusing on defining "Quality" programs, as well as preparing professionals to offer high-quality out-of-school time programs. The Committee is chaired by Becky Ciminillo, YMCA of Central Ohio. Learn more.
Workgroups
OAN was invited to participate with a workgroup consisting of state agency staff from the departments of Education and Job and Family Services and members the Child Care Advisory Council to make recommendations regarding the transfer of school-age child care programming, licensing and funding to the Ohio Department of Education. OAN's Recommendations for creating a school-age child care, afterschool and extended learning opportunities infrastructure in the Ohio Department of Education will be used as a basis for the discussion as indicated in the Center for Early Childhood Development Implementation Plan.
OAN's Licensing Workgroup convened to research recommendations to the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) and Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) regarding school-age licensing.
