Deadline September 1, 2010 ♦ The U.S. Department of Labor is accepting applications for the Add Us In Program. Funding is provided to develop and evaluate replicable models, strategies and policies that would ensure that youth and adults from targeted populations with disabilities have access to a broader range of employment and mentoring opportunities.
Deadline September 7, 2010 ♦ The Ronald McDonald House Charities is accepting applications for programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children addressing the significant funding gap or critical opportunity and long-term impact in terms of reach, as well as producing measurable results and sustainability.
Deadline September 15, 2010 ♦ The Ohio Attorney General’s office is offering funding for projects addressing local needs related to youth and families, the elderly, people with disabilities and others. The Community Small Grant Program supports nonprofit organizations located in Ohio with funding intended for specific projects rather than ongoing operational cost.
Deadline September 15, 2010 ♦ Applications for the Ezra Jack Keats mini-grant program are now being accepted. Funding supports programs encouraging literacy and creativity in children.
Deadline September 16, 2010 ♦ Applications are being accepted by the U.S. Department of Education to expand fundamental knowledge and understanding of education from early childhood through postsecondary and adult education. Public and private nonprofit agencies and institutions are eligible. Learn more.
Deadline September 16, 2010 ♦ The Department of Education is providing funding through the Evaluation of State and Local Education Programs and Policies with the central purpose to provide parents, educators, students, researchers, policymakers, and the general public with reliable and valid information about education practices that support learning and improve academic achievement and access to education opportunities for all students. Funding provided supports programs of research in areas of demonstrated national need.
Deadline September 17, 2010 ♦ The Foundation for Rural Education and Development and The Rural Telephone Finance Cooperative are providing funding to increase the use of technology in rural classrooms. Public K-12 schools in the service area of an OPASTCO telephone company are eligible to apply, this includes a handful of areas in Ohio.
Deadline September 18-26, 2010 for Play Day and October 15, 2010 for Grant ♦ KaBoom! provides funding to support community Play Days, as well as play space improvement projects. Play Days must occur between September 18th and 26th with Host an active participant on KaBoom! Play Day website.
Deadline September 29, 2010 ♦ The U.S. Department of the Interior is providing funding for Environmental Training for Youths. Funding support programs introducing youth to natural resource careers through hands-on work with, and training by, natural resource professionals employed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
Deadline September 30, 2010 ♦ The NAMM Foundation is accepting applications for its program grants to advance access to music education and music making for people of all ages.
Deadline September 30, 2010 ♦ Applications are being accepted for the Kids in Need Foundation teacher grants. Funding is provided to K-12 educators to implement innovative learning opportunities for students.
Deadline September 30, 2010 ♦ Post-it® is now accepting artwork submissions for the Post-it® Artwork Contest. Must be 18 years or older to participate in this contest to create an originally masterpiece out of Post-it® products.
Deadline October 1, 2010 ♦ Applications for the Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation are being accepted. This grant supports instrument repair and the acquisition of new instruments for before- and after-school music programs.
Deadline October 1, 2010 ♦ Applications for the 2010 Healthy Sprouts Award are now being accepted. This grant from The National Gardening Association funds planting a garden in 2011 with at least 15 children between the ages of 3 and 18.
Deadline October 1, 2010 ♦ Proposals are being accepted for the ASCAP Foundation’s Grants for Music Education. Support is provided to organizations engaging in music education and talent development programs that support music education for aspiring composers and songwriters.
Deadline October 1, 2010 ♦ The Red Robin Foundation is accepting applications for the U-ACT Program. This program provides funding to challenge middle school and junior high schools to create caring communities and inspire kindness among students.
Deadline October 7, 2010 ♦ The National Endowment for the Humanities is providing funding for its Picturing America School Collaboration. This project fosters collaboration between K-12 teachers and humanities scholars to encourage engagement with the rich resources of American art to tell America's story.
Deadline October 8, 2010 ♦ Applications are being accepted for the Peoples Garden School Pilot Program. This program funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture supports the development and maintenance of community gardens at high-poverty schools, along with teaching the youth involved in the gardens about agriculture production practices, diet and nutrition.
Deadline October 15, 2010 ♦ The Lorrie Otto Seeds for Education is accepting applications for its Wild Ones Program. The program provides small monetary grants for the purchase of native plans and seeds. Schools, nature centers, and other nonprofit and not-for-profit places of learning, including houses of worship are eligible to apply.
Deadline October 22, 2010 ♦ UnitedHealth Group and Youth Service America are accepting applications for its HEROES Service-Learning Grants. Funding is provide to help young people create and implement local, hands-on programs to fight childhood obesity.
Deadline October 29, 2010 ♦ The U.S. Soccer Federation provides support throughout the U.S. to keep children in vulnerable communities active, healthy, and safe from the dangers of the streets. The Field Grants to help pay for field development, uniforms, player equipment, travel costs, facility rental, registration costs, and training for players, coaches and referees.
Deadline October 31, 2010 ♦ The 2010 Out of the Box Prizes honor innovative approaches to promoting community health and development. Organizations working areas such as education, health, poverty, the environment, social justice, or other related issues of importance to communities are eligible to apply.
Deadline October 31, 2010 ♦ State Farm supports efforts that focus on meeting the needs of the community in the areas of safety, community development, and education.
Deadline October 31, 2010 ♦ Applications are being accepted by The Verizon Foundation, which works to improve lives through literacy, knowledge and a readiness for the 21st Century. Funding priorities include supporting innovative technology-based approaches to literacy and education for both adults and children, prevent domestic violence and helping victims gain independence, improving healthcare through technology, and educating parents and children about Internet Safety.
Deadline November 15, 2010 ♦ Applications for the Office Depot Funds are now being accepted. The Office Depot Foundation provides funding to nonprofits serving, teaching, and inspiring children, youth and families, supporting civic organizations, and activities that serve community needs.
Deadline December 1, 2010 ♦ Applications are being accepted for the SeaWorld & Busch Gardens Environmental Excellence Awards. These awards recognize the outstanding efforts of students and teachers across the U.S. who are working at the grassroots level to protect and preserve the environment.
Deadline December 2, 2010 ♦ Funding to support youth and young adult alcohol prevention is being provided by the National Institutes of Health. Support is provide to advance the science of alcohol prevention and treatment through evaluations of multi-component community programs, with a specific focus on adolescents and young adults.
Deadline July 1, 2011 ♦ Now being accepted, applications for the Active Living Research Grant: Building Evidence to Prevent Childhood Obesity. The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation is providing support for research to inform the policy and environmental strategies for increasing physical activity among children and adolescents.
Deadline September 30, 2011 ♦ The Office of Naval Research is accepting applications from organizations that foster an interest in, knowledge of and study of science, technology, engineering and mathematics nationwide (STEM).
Deadline Ongoing ♦ Funding opportunities for early childhood care and education programs are available through Rosie’s for All Kids Foundation. Grants are available for tuition subsidies, small renovations, supplies and equipment upgrades, playground construction, and staff development opportunities.
Deadline Ongoing ♦ The Charles Lafitte Foundation supports innovative and effective ways for people to help themselves and others lead healthy and satisfying lives. Letters of inquiry for funding through the Foundation’s Healthy Living Grant are accepted throughout the year. A preference is given to projects and programs that provide a permanent solution rather than a temporary bandage.
Deadline Ongoing ♦ The Campbell Soup Foundation provides grants to local champions who inspire positive change in communities in which its employees work, including Napoleon, Wauseon, and Willard, Ohio. The Foundation limits grants to nonprofit organization focusing on hunger relief, wellness, education and community revitalization.
Deadline Ongoing ♦ The Starbucks Shared Planet Youth Action Grants provide funding to help young people realize their national potential to reinvent their local communities. Grants applications are accepted from organization that provide young people (ages 6-24) with a continuum of service opportunities in social entrepreneurship.

Deadline Ongoing ♦ The American Honda Foundation is making available one-year funding for youth and scientific education, which includes physical and life sciences, mathematics, and the environmental sciences. The Foundation’s mission is to help meet the needs in areas of youth and scientific education by funding nonprofits while strategically assisting communities in deriving long-term benefits.
Deadline Ongoing ♦ Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation supports programs helping young people with disabilities gain full access to educational, vocational, and recreational opportunities enabling them to participate alongside their typical peers.
Deadline Ongoing ♦ The Fender Music Foundation supports established, ongoing, and sustainable music programs, including afterschool music programs, which provide music instruction for people of any age who would not otherwise have this opportunity.
